Equine Assisted Therapy

Experiential | Trauma-informed | Inclusive

Equine-assisted therapy is a recognised practice that can make therapy accessible and attractive to clients of all ages. During a session, you’ll work alongside the therapist and one or more calm, healthy horses. Activities are tailored to your goals and preferences, and can involve observing, grooming, leading, or mounted activities. Through your interaction with the horses, you’ll be supported by the therapist to explore thoughts, feelings, sensations, and memories that arise. Horses offer a unique non-judgmental presence that helps people to cope with the stress of modern life, especially if living with mental illness or disability. It’s an approach that’s particularly supportive for neurodivergent clients and those who prefer the freedom of being outdoors. Research shows that equine-assisted therapy helps people more effectively manage symptoms of trauma, anxiety, and ADHD through improved emotional regulation, self-awareness, confidence and interpersonal skills. Individual Therapy Sessions

Room-based | Equine Assisted | Walk-and-Talk

Individual counselling sessions at C Horses help you address stress, anxiety, and emotional challenges. Treatment is evidence-based, always personalised and is grounded in compassion and respect. We incorporate CBT, ACT, and psychodynamic approaches to help our clients manage anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns. Tailored treatment plans promote clarity, resilience, and well-being. While we offer room-based therapy in our comfortable cottage, many clients prefer equine-assisted, walk-and-talk, and nature-based therapy sessions, where we support you to explore practical solutions to reach your goals, and strategies to help you become more present and empowered.
